Simple Minds performed their 5X5 show last night in Newcastle at the O2 Academy, and I have to say, what a show it was! 5X5 live, the show in which the band performed five songs off each of their first five albums, grabbing the audience and dedicating the set list to their earlier music including albums such as ‘Life in a Day’, ‘Real to Real Cacophony’, ‘Empires and Dance’, ‘Sons and Fascination/Sister Feelings Calling’ and ‘New Gold Dream (81/82/83/84)’

On arrival we were told that the band were running five minutes late so we grabbed a drink at the bar and headed down to the standing area. I wanted to get down to the front so we eased our way through the crowd to get closer.
