TV ads from 1979, 1981 and 1983

Rowenta irons – hard to believe a whole TV ad campaign could be built around a humble iron but it’s in this compilation. Also ITV’s Oracle news service – which looks so primitive and I must admit I hated it at the time. Thank goodness for the internet!!

Shredded wheat has lots of sunny imagery – a feature of all breakfast cereal ads at the time – and a family sitting round a kitchen table having breakfast – does that happen anymore? Cheddar cheese is lovely but in those days it was used to make heart stopping, cholesterol laden cheese bakes as you can see.

More dubious cookery surfaces in the Bovril ad and the food is, of course, made by Mum – no men allowed near the cooker.
